About USC GMB

USC Global Medical Brigades (GMB) is a student-led organization based in Los Angeles, CA. We are devoted to empowering communities through providing health clinics and education. In the past, most of our members have been students at the University of Southern California, but we welcome all college students.

USC GMB is part of the Global Brigades network, which includes hundreds of student chapters at universities all across the nation. In addition to Global Medical Brigades, USC also hosts Global Dental Brigades and Global Business Brigades.

Global Brigades is the world’s largest student-led global health and sustainable development organization. Since its founding in 2004, Global Brigades has mobilized more than 65,000 volunteers from over 800 university clubs. These students work directly with professionals, local staff, and community leaders in nine skill-based service programs to improve the quality of life in under-resourced communities and to empower both the community members and the student volunteers.

Medical Brigades is the first of nine service programs and focuses on providing relief in countries with limited access to health care and developing sustainable health initiatives. During each brigade, we treat hundreds of patients in mobile medical clinics and deliver public health workshops. Between brigades, an in-country team provides follow-up communication and training to community health workers, empowering local leaders to perpetuate a consistent level of health care.
